For New reQuest Participants: Overview of Training
reQuest training is given free of additional charge to libraries that
are participating in reQuest. Libraries are not activated in reQuest
until a staff member has attended training. The sessions use a "train
the trainer" approach so that the attendee will be able to train
others at their library. Sessions are scheduled on an ongoing basis.
Training consists of three sessions:
* PAC Searching and Administration is a prerequisite for all other courses.
Where
Unless otherwise noted, all sessions will be held in the Training Lab
at the Middletown Library Service Center (MLSC). (Directions to MLSC.)
Day of training
You will have approximately one hour for lunch. You may choose to dine
at one of the numerous restaurants in the area or you may bring your
lunch and use our staffroom.
If you are attending as an ILL "refresher," you should bring
your reQuest ILL passwords with you. Also, your library should not use
the staff functions of Interlibrary Library Loan while you are attending
the reQuest Interlibrary Loan training session.
Registering
To register for a reQuest training class, please go to the Connecticut State
Library's Calendar of Events and register online.
Preference is given to new reQuest participants, but those wishing to
refresh their skills may attend if space is available. Those attending
will receive Continuing Library Education Certificate (CLEC) credits.
New Participants: Once we have received your signed participation agreement
we will call to register you for training. One week before training,
we will call to re-confirm your attendance.
