Unfilled Interlibrary Loan reQuest? Try Additional Libraries!
A service of the Connecticut State Library and your local library in partnership with the Department of Higher Education.

If you send an Interlibrary Loan (ILL) request to all potential lenders in the reQuest system and the request is returned unfilled, consider trying to obtain the material from libraries outside of the reQuest system. From the reQuest ILL system, you have two options: you can either have unfilled requests sent to your own OCLC ILL account, or you can have unfilled requests referred to additional libraries by the Connecticut Library Consortium's (CLC) OCLC ILL service.

Option A: If your library has an OCLC ILL Account

If your library uses OCLC ILL , we can set up a means through which any unfilled reQuest ILL may be sent directly to your OCLC ILL Review File. This will eliminate the need for re-keying requests from the reQuest/ILL system into the OCLC system. (Contact the reQuest ILL Coordinator for details.)

Option B: If your library does not have an OCLC ILL Account

The Connecticut Library Consortium (CLC) will be providing brokering services for unfilled reQuest ILLs. You can forward an unfilled ILL from the reQuest system to CLC, by following the steps outlined below.

  • Type ROC1, into the unfilled request's Lender List. The ROC1 is the broker code. Make sure that you type the code and the comma or your request will not be forwarded to the broker.
  • Select Approve/Send from the pull-down menu that is located toward the top of the request.
  • Hit the Submit button. This will forward the request to CLC. They then will send the ILL request to libraries outside the reQuest system.

CLC will bill your library $9.00 per request for this service for all requests initiated between January 1, 2004 to June 30, 2004 . This fee is charged regardless of whether the request is filled, and does not include any associated lending library fees (i.e. photocopy charges, etc.). While CLC makes every attempt to get the item(s) from libraries that do not charge, note that you can also specify a maximum cost of what you are willing to pay if the requested item is available from libraries that charge associated fees.
