What: "Love Your Library" Fundraiser |
From 15% to 25% of all Barnes & Noble purchases made on December 2-3 with Love Your Library vouchers will be contributed to a statewide library project, known as iCONN (a.k.a., The Connecticut Digital Library). This project provides free online subscription databases to all public, school, and academic libraries in Connecticut, as well as to all Connecticut residents. As part of Love Your Library, local libraries can set up "wishlist" tables at their neighborhood bookstores, so shoppers can donate new items directly to their libraries' collections. Events will be set up at many local Barnes & Noble stores, working in conjunction with the local public library in that town (and sometimes in several surrounding towns as a larger partnership effort) for December 2nd and 3rd.

What is iCONN?
Administered by the Connecticut State Library, in conjunction with the Department of Higher Education, iCONN is the “go to” spot for free & fast database access for libraries, schools, universities and all of Connecticut’s citizens. Since its "go-live" date in 2001, iCONN users have conducted over 30 million searches of iCONN databases. Love Your Library will help support this core library resource. iCONN has been awarded a certificate of commendation from a division of the American Library Association for its contribution to school librarianship. The project ensures equity in access to high-quality information resources by extending database services to all communities and state residents at no charge. It was proposed by then-Lt. Governor Jodi Rell in 1999 and has been supported by the Connecticut General Assembly since the proposal's adoption in 2000. To learn more about iCONN, go to http://www.iconn.org/AboutiCONN.aspx
