Love Your Library Fundraising Information For Librarians
How your library benefits from the Love Your Library fundraiser:
- The funds received from the promotion will be contributed by the Connecticut Library Consortium to iCONN - the Connecticut Digital Library - to fund the purchase of online resources (e.g., new databases and/or additional online content) for all Connecticut libraries, thus leveraging statewide library purchasing power
- If you live in a Barnes & Noble town, your library is eligible to set up a "wishlist" table, from which shoppers can choose books to add to your library collection
- Work with Barnnes & Noble professionals to offer in-store events on Love Your Library days that provide opportunities for community outreach; remind non-patrons that your library is a compelling place to visit!
- Use the Love Your Library event as a public relations opportunity
What you can do to help make the event successful:
- Send out a press release to your local news outlets about the Love Your Library event (See Publicizing Love Your Library Days)
- Add Love Your Library days to your library's event calendar
- Add a link to www.loveyourlibrary.com from your website [for help with the code required, contact the program coordinators]
- Include Love Your Library days in your monthly newsletter; include the Love Your Library voucher for newsletter readers to use
- Let your Friends' group know about Love Your Library days - distribute vouchers to them
- Use other meetings, events, and promotions to remind users about Love Your Library days & to distribute vouchers
- Put vouchers out at the Circulation and Information Desks
- Copy vouchers, as needed, to ensure a constant supply (black & white versions will work as well as color)
- Put vouchers into books with checkout receipts
- If you have access to your integrated library system settings, consider doing the following:
- add a reminder about Love Your Library days and/or create a hyperlink to www.loveyourlibrary.com to your web catalog
- add a reminder about Love Your Library days to the bottom of your checkout receipts
- add a reminder about Love Your Library days to hold (or other system-generated) notices from November until Dec. 3!
- Display color posters provided by Connecticut Library Consortium

The Connecticut Library Consortium is printing out vouchers. They will be distributed via the Connecticut State Library's Connecticar (C-CAR) delivery system. Copies of the vouchers will be accepted by Barnes & Noble stores. Black & white can be used instead of color. Vouchers will also be accepted from newspaper ads, brochures, newsletters, or other print materials. Vouchers will be included in the Connecticut Library Consortium's annual gift-giving recommendation brochure, which will be available online by November.
Electronic versions of the vouchers are available for individuals, libraries, and other organizations to print out (printed vouchers are acceptable in either black & white or color versions). These vouchers can be hyperlinked or downloaded to library websites. We encourage you to distribute both online and printed versions of the vouchers.
Cashiers at the Barnes & Noble locations will have extra Love Your Library vouchers available to patrons who've forgotten their vouchers on Love Your Library days and will provide them upon request.
